A car washing fund raiser which took place at Tarbert Fire Station
on January 24 in aid of the Haiti disaster, raised an amazing £2,362.
The firefighters managed to clean-up 99 cars on the day, from 9.30am to 5pm and declared the fundraiser to be their 'most successful yet'.

Their previous record in one day was 82 cars, there were also charity boxes in nearby shops and pubs.

Two young Tarbert girls, Katlin and Claire Mulhern also helped the effort by donating jars of change they had been saving which amounted to £45.

Speaking about the fundraiser, Seumas Morrison said: "This is the most we have ever raised at one of our car washes, given the time of year it was we must thank the generosity of the Harris folk who supported it and donated so generously and even the odd passing Leosach."
