SUMMER is here and the time is right for you to head to the beach with your bucket and spade.
And this year there is an extra reason to have a fun time at the beach with our 'Sand Statues' Competition.

Throughout June, July and August we are asking all of our Under 12 readers (whether they are visiting or resident in the islands) to send us a picture of the designs created by them and their families when they visit Western Isles beaches.

Your 'Sand Statue' can be of anything - a castle, a monster (pictured), a person, a famous landmark - whatever you like.

All of your pictures (please include yourself and your family) will be featured in the Stornoway Gazette and on August 27 we will announce the winner, who will pick up a £100 prize.

Your entry should tell us your name, address, age and daytime tel number. You should also include what your 'Sand Statue' is, why you decided to build it and which beach it was created on (no more than 50 words).

All entries must be submitted by August 17 when the winner will be chosen by the Editor.
Send your entries to 'Sand Statues' Competition, Stornoway Gazette, 10 Francis Street, Stornoway HS1 2XE or email: newsdesk@stornowaygazette.co.uk
