WITH tickets for the Glenn Miller Night on Friday December 11 already sold out, Music Project Hebrides (MpH) and RAF Association (RAFA) are staging a second concert to satisfy public demand.
MpH Musical Director, Gavin Woods, says: "We are delighted and honoured that there is such a high demand for tickets.
"The original Glenn Miller World War II night, held in March as part of MpH's Kaleidoscope Festival, was a great success, and we have responded with another chance for people to enjoy the special atmosphere of a wartime dance and buffet."
The MpH Big Band will be revisiting Miller classics played at the March event, such as 'American Patrol', 'In the Mood' and 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy' – the latter again performed by MpH's very own Andrews Sisters.
There are also plenty of new numbers to look forward to, including 'Moonlight in Vermont', 'Woodchoppers' Ball' and 'Someone to Watch Over Me'.
In keeping with imminent Christmas festivities, period seasonal favourites such as 'Winter Wonderland', 'Santa Baby' and the comic duet 'Baby It's Cold Outside' will also get an airing.
The MpH Big Band will be supported by the MpH Auxiliary Corps, singers Cath Fish, Avril Duncan and Alanna McCuaig, and compere Robert Doig, who will ensure the smooth running of the show, including adherence to blackout regulations and the proper conduct during an air raid.
The Royal British Legion will again be decked in wartime garb by the RAF Association, and guests are encouraged to come along in 1940s dress – a prize will be awarded for the most authentic outfit.
Ration-friendly table snacks are included in the ticket price, and there will be raffle prizes and sing-alongs for the guests to join in – not to mention a dance-floor for those who can still remember the foxtrot, jive and quickstep!
Tickets are available from Ceol Music Shop, The Royal British Legion, MpH and RAFA members.
