PERCEVAL Square may regain its place in the heart of Stornoway with plans underway to return to its roots as a car-free civic space.
The whole area may be realigned to one level; the phone boxes removed and a performance space created.

Lighting bollards would mark the boundaries of the Square while the existing trees would be encased due to the change in level.

These are just some of the ideas put forward as part of the early plans to reclaim Perceval Square as a pedestrian only space.

With a long history as an important part of the town, the aim is to restore it to some of its former glory, but with a contemporary twist.

For more information and images on the Perceval Square project see this week's Stornoway Gazette out on Thursday, January 21.
