A UNIQUE art show was enjoyed this month when the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) brought an inspiring collection of exhibits produced by students across Scotland to The Nicolson Institute, Stornoway.
The artworks on display were all completed for the 2008 Art and Design National Courses and featured a number of works from Nicolson pupils.
Previously the exhibition was shown at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, the People's Palace in Glasgow and the National Gallery of Scotland.
And as well as the exhibition – which was on display on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, a series of workshops in millinery, jewellery and textiles were also held in the secondary school.
Dr Janet Brown, chief executive of SQA commented: "For some time we have wanted to bring examples of the phenomenal work of our talented young artists to one of the Scottish islands.
"I'm delighted that, with the assistance of our sponsors and the support of Kevin Trewartha and his staff at The Nicolson Institute, we have been able to come to Stornoway."
To see pictures of the Nicolson SQA Art Show, catch the May edition of Island Eye, out on May 14.
