CEOLAS - an annual festival of music, song and dance in the heart of the Gaelic Community of South Uist, has been nominated for an award in this year's MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards.
The arts intiative, which each year attracts a myriad of tutors to the island's summer school to pass on skills in piping, fiddling, singing and dancing has received a nomination in the 'Community Project of the Year' section.
Speaking about the nomination Iain MacDonald of Ceolas said: "Thank you
to those of you who nominated us as the Community Event in the Trad
Awards - we are delighted, it was a great surprise to receive the call."
Now the group are hoping the wider community will support them by logging on to: www.handsupfortrad.co.uk and voting for Ceolas.
Voting is open from now until November 21, supporters log their favourite of the top four nominations in each category. The award winners will be announced at an award ceremony in Glasgow on December 6.
