Hooray, well done, about time, congratulations, just some of the words used to welcome the start of the RET initiative.
But hang on, sit back for just a minute, has anyone questioned the fact that despite having all the prices/fares worked out, RET doesn't start until October. How are the Islands supposed to promote tourism when the scheme starts at the end of the season?
Another question, how do they arrive at the 60p per mile, a charity on the Island pays its drivers 40p per mile, another pays 25p per mile to compensate its drivers for the running costs of drivers using their cars for the benefit of the users of the charities concerned.
Yes we all welcome the start of the RET initiative, but why so late and where do they get their running cost figures from?
