THE volunteer arts promoters network Arts Nan Eilean will be bringing several events to the islands from June onwards.
Included in the Summer Season of events are: Jacques Brel with the Head over Heels Dance Theatre; the Edinburgh Choreographic Company; The Stu Brown Jazz Band, and Mull Theatre’s Unspotted Snow by Peter Arnott.
And the first of this Season’s entertainment comes on June 26th as the art promoters present Traditional Sea Stories from Alex Patience, with music from Donald Macneill.
There will be three performances by each of the artistes, in a variety of venues between Ness, Clan MacQuarrie, Bernera Community Centre, Uig Community Centre, Ravenspoint, Harris Arts Venues, Carinish Hall, Creagorry Hotel, a Ceolas event venue in South Uist and an Isle of Barra community venue.
Each of the venues is represented by a promoter as Arts nan Eilean – a Rural Nations project – brings together promoters from each community area to help distribute information about shows in their locality and spread the word of these fantastic entertainment opportunities.
Planning for the Arts nan Eilean Autumn Season of events is already underway and several of the touring companies will also provide workshops for schools in close proximity to their performance venues.
