THE Loop festival organisers are delighted to finally announce their Saturday night headliner – the multi-million selling alternative rock act Ash!
With a career spanning 18 years – featuring an incredible 18 top singles including ‘Girl from Mars’, ‘Shinging Light’, ‘Burn Baby Burn’ and ‘Goldfinger’ – the Irish rock group have lost none of the energy that saw them debut on Top of the Pops whilst awaiting their ‘A’ level results and since notch up five studio albums (and a mini-album) together.
And for festival organisers Beyond, this proves a very special booking, Ash being the first major act the company promoted in the Highlands ten years ago.
Back in December 2001 the band came up and played two intimate shows – one in Inverness and the second in Ullapool at The Seaforth, ahead of the release of their most successful album ‘Free all Angels’.
And this October sees the band go out to play some live dates to celebrate the 10th anniversary of that release.
Also appearing over the Loopallu weekend – Friday 16 and Saturday 17 September – are Friday headliners The Feeling; one of the most influencital punk bands of the 70s The Buzzcocks; Fratellis frontman Jon Fratelli; Scotland’s fast rising stars Kassidy; Admiral Fallow; Rachel Sermanni; The Bluebells; Skerryvore; ska juggernaut Bombskare; Paws; The Imagineers; Finding Albert, and of course, the Ullapool Pipe Band.
Tickets for Loopallu 2011 are completely sold out, however, Ash will also be stopping off at The Ironworks in Inverness on Friday, September 16, to play another special show.
Tickets for this show go on sale at 10am, Saturday September 3, and will be available from www.ironworksvenue.com, by calling 0871 789 4173 or in person from the venue.
