THE BIG Minch Swim Team have another HUGE thank-you to say to Stornoway store WeeW, customers and townsfolk who brought in the fantastic total of £850 for the Big Minch Swim challenge in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Local shop WeeW is getting behind the Swim Team by decking out their window in support of the Big Minch Swim. The store will also continue collecting for the RNLI until the team have crossed the Minch and swam home from Ullapool to Stornoway.

And WeeW will also be supporting the swimmers throughout the challenge as well, supplying water, juice and sweet-treats to keep their energy up.

WeeW manager Ann Maccallum commented: “The challenge has really captured people’s imaginations and it is for such a local and important cause that we wanted to help out.

“We’re a heartland store, part of the community, and the lifeboat is also a huge part of the community – any time any of us has to cross the water, be it by boat or by air, we have the knowledge that the lifeboat is there should anything go wrong.”
