THIS Saturday is all about the cheer as all are invited to come along and have some fun at the island cheer squad – the North West Allstars – first ever Fun Day.
Running from 2pm-4pm at the Bayhead Bridge centre, it will be a great family day out, with some of the highlights including a bouncy castle, games and stalls, home baking, teddy bear games and hot dogs.
And there will also be a chance for young people and kids to have a go at learning some cheer and dance, including Hip-Hop, and watching the squad display some stunts and sequences.
The North West Allstars hold classes in cheer and dance for three to 18 year old, and coach Kirstie Anderson said of their first Fun Day: “We hope to see a really good turn out.
“We’ve got around 90 dancers including our Hip Hop dancers now, so I hope we’ll see lots of support for them on Saturday – not just from their friends and family, but from the whole community.”
She added: “There is a lot on this Saturday, but please come along for a short while to have some fun and support the girls. You don’t need to be a cheerleader and if you’ve got a wee girl who is wondering what it’s all about, this is the perfect chance to find out.”
Saturday is also the last day for early bird registration for classes – and anyone who enrols in classes on or before Saturday will receive a 10% discount on classes throughout the year, making a one hour class cost less than £2!
There will be registration forms and information on taking part in cheer, dance or Hip-Hop on the day.
All proceeds will go to supporting the squad, buying new and replacing old equipment and helping with trips to competitions.
