Four new Gaelic books have been shortlisted for this year’s Donald Meek Award.

The Donald Meek Award was established by the Gaelic Books Council in 2010 to encourage and support new and established Gaelic writers.

The following four books have been shortlisted for 2013 award:

Dearc written by Peter MacKay; Màiri Dhall agus Sgeulachdan eile written by Duncan Gillies; A’ Challaig seo, Chall Ò written by Martin MacIntyre; Bàrdachd (gun ainm fhathast) written by Angus Peter Campbell.

The winner of the 2013 Donald Meek Award will be named at a special reception at 2.00pm in the Party Pavilion in Charlotte Square, on Thursday, August 22nd 2012, as part of the Edinburgh International Book Festival.
