THE Blytheswood annual Shoe Box appeal which sees useful items and small gifts sent to children and adults in less fortunate countries is always a firm charity favourite in the Western Isles.

Many of the region’s school children are encouraged to take part in the charity scheme and schools throughout the islands gather huge numbers of the boxes to send away in time for the festive season.

One of these is schools is Sgoil nan Loch and the P1 and 2 pupils are pictured above, who with the help of D. J. MacLeod, will load up the school’s contributions to the 2011 Shoebox Appeal.
