Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is launching the Food Hygiene Information Scheme in the Outer Hebrides.
The scheme will be rolled out by area, starting with Stornoway and extending to all the islands in the next few months.
Premises will be classed as “Awaiting Inspection” until they have been inspected.
Consumers will be able to see how well food businesses in the Outer Hebrides fared in their most recent food inspection.
The Food Hygiene Information Scheme effectively “opens the door” to the kitchens and food areas.
It is hoped the scheme will help to increase consumer confidence and allow customers make choices about where they eat or buy their food.
