This year Alzheimer Scotland Lewis and Harris and their supporters are bringing forward the annual Dementia dip to Boxing day.

The event will take place on December 26th at Gress Beach at 1pm.

There has already been a flurry of interest for registering and attending the event with many people pledging to get sponsor by their friends and family.

This is the fourth annual Dementia Dip and it is proving to be a popular event and a fun way of raising much needed finds for the service.

All the money raised is used locally to support people with dementia and their families and last year a grand total of £2500 was raised, which was used to support ongoing community activities and carer support.

Karen Macdonald, Community fundraiser is organising and leading the event this year and is hoping that it will be well attended.

She said: “More than 40 people took part last year and this year we would really love to make the 100!

“Porkie’s van will be there for hot drinks and snacks and it is a great get together on Boxing Day.”

It costs £10 to register (includes a hot drink) and people are kindly asked to try and raise whatever sponsor money they can.

Registration forms are available from kmacdonald@alzscot.org or mmacinnes@alzscot.org or people can register on the day from 12.30pm – the event starts promptly at 1pm.

There is a no alcohol policy at the event.Tshirts are available for £5 – please order in advance.

Please come along to help us make sure no one faces dementia alone.
