HEADS were turned at Eden Court recently as the cast from this year’s Panto – Mother Goose – popped into the theatre on a flying visit to the Highland capital, Inverness.
And hundreds of children (aged eight to 16) from across the Highlands attended open auditions hoping to be one of the youngsters selected to join the cast as panto babes.
The annual pantomime is Eden Court’s biggest production of the year, attracting more than 30,000 people during its five week run – with a number of islanders travelling across the Minch to enjoy the show.
This year the theatre treat’s audiences to the eggs-citing, egg-travaganza of Mother Goose, produced by Imagine Theatre – a pantomime and theatre production company which this year will produce ten pantomimes right across England, Wales and Scotland.
Taking the lead as Mother Goose will be Paul Nivison, who has worked in theatre, television and film for over 20 years, appearing in River City and Taggart amongst others.
Jack Goose will be played by Clare Waugh, and Archie Goose by Alastair G Bruce – both of whom have appeared in panto on the Eden Court stage before. Highly experienced panto performer Derek McGhie takes the boo-filled role of the Demon King, while Lorayne McLucas portrays Jill Skinflint, Iain Wotherspoon as Squire Skinflint, Louse McCarthy as Fairy Betty – and of course, Priscilla the Goose who will be playing herself!
Mother Goose opens at Eden Court on Tuesday, December 4th and runs until Saturday, January 6th, 2013.
