LAUGHTER is the name of the game on Monday (March 19th) night as popular Highland company Cartoon Theatre brings its new show ‘A Sporting Chance’ to Stornoway.
Having entertained children and families throughout Scotland for the last 15 years, Cartoon Theatre’s ‘A Sporting Chance’ arrives just in time for the Olympics as the comedy adventure follows one man’s battle with his personal athletic best.
Combining live performance with animation – written and animated by Dave Smith and performed by Artair Donald – the show opens as hero Donald receives news he is the lucky winner of a seat at the ‘Games’.
However, to take his place in time he must journey to the mainland – and nearly missing the ferry is only the start of a series of adventures, mishaps and meetings that mysteriously resemble many well-known sports.
Whether it’s crossing the Minch in his row boat of the 100m dash to escape the scavenging seagulls, Donald battles on.
And things don’t get much easier when Donald arrives at the stadium – but finds himself on the wrong track! Luckily, the gruelling ‘training course’ of his adventure has prepared him well and Donald is rewarded, not with a grandstand seat, but with something much, much better: a happy ending to his personal journey from spectator to participant.
‘A Sporting Chance’ will perform in An Lanntair, Stornoway, on Monday, March 19th, at 7pm. For further information visit arts centre website at www.lanntair.com
