LEWIS born Angus MacDonald MSP has become the new convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Cross Party Group on Gaelic.
Mr MacDonald, who comes from a well known Stornoway business and farming family, was elected to the Parliament last year to represent the Falkirk East constituency.
He said: “I am delighted to be the new convenor of the Scottish Parliament’s Cross Party Group on Gaelic.
“With the launch of the new National Plan for Gaelic 2012-2017 at the end of June it is clear that much work needs to be done in encouraging greater support for the language in the community and in education.
“The cross party group allows MSPs from all parties to discuss the challenges and successes of the Gaelic language and I very much look forward to ensuring Gaelic is at the forefront of MSPs minds in the months and years to come,” Mr MacDonald added.
