Another chance to enjoy all the musical fun and frolics of HebCelt 2012 - including performances be headliners The Waterboys - is on offer with BBC ALBA this festive season.

AS revellers anticipate the Hebridean Celtic Festival’s 18th birthday in July 2013 with the announcement of the first three confirmed acts: The Battlefield Band, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, and livewire American band The Hot Seats – all the musical fun and frolics of this year’s HebCelt can be relived over the festive season on BBC ALBA.

Headlined by The Waterboys, The Proclaimers and Kassidy, HebCelt 2012 saw a major expansion in programming and attracted visitors to the Isle of Lewis from 19 different countries.

And tomorrow, Thursday, December 27th, is the start of a series of shows re-living this year’s highlights with the screening of a 15minute programme featuring popular Gaelic supergroup Manran.

This is followed by an hour-long special on The Proclaimers HebCelt gig on Saturday, December 29th.

And a further two programmes are scheduled for the start of the year featuring Admiral Fallow, Washington Irving, Isobel Ann Martine and Niteworks on Saturday, January 5th; and Kassidy, Skerryvore, Frank Yamma and David Bridie the following week, Saturday January 12th.

The Hebridean Celtic Festival 2013 will take place in from July 17th to 20th.

And the 18th HebCelt is already attracting huge interest across the globe seven months ahead of the event.

Advance tickets – which are being held at 2012 prices of £70 (£55 for concession and £15 for children under 14) for the main arena events – have already been snapped up by fans across the UK and Ireland, Europe and America.

Fetsival Director Caroline Maclennan said: “Next year’s festival is already off to a great start with confirmation that The Battlefield Band, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers and The Hot Seats will be in the line up.

“All three are fantastic live bands and will add to the special atmosphere for the which the HebCelt is renowned.”

She added: “With some more fabulous names still to announce, our 18th birthday looks set to be a special occasion.”
