LOCAL radio station Isles FM and BBC Radio nan Gaidheal will fight it out for the title of Radio Station of the Year at the Celtic Media Awards in April.
Isles FM have also been shortlisted for the Radio Documentary award for ‘The Beginners’ Guide to the Mod’ hosted by Annie Delin.
Managing Director of Isles FM, David Morrison said: “It is a fantastic achievement for us and it is all down to the hard work, effort, commitment and time that our volunteers put into keeping Isles FM on air. I am particularly delighted for them.”
He added: “It is a good thing for all community radio stations in the Highlands, for Isles fm to be up there in the running for an award with four BBC stations. “These guys have serious financial backing, have full time paid staff and are trained to a very high level in their profession. We are a community volunteer run station who have to watch every penny of the few pennies that we do have. That makes this all them more special for all of our volunteers.”
Radio nan Gaidheal presenter Morag MacDonald is shortlisted for Radio Presenter of the Year while BBC Alba programmes have also been nominated in several categories.
