SEVENTY four big-hearted and hardy souls braved the rain on Friday night to walk 10k for charity in and around Stornoway.
The group dug out their waterproofs in a bid to dig deep for Lewis Cancer Research where organiser Eilidh Thomson reveals they have already passed the £1,000-mark with more money yet to come.
She said: “So far the total is £1,030 but we still have more sponsor money to collect. I have actually set a cut-off day for October 9 to try and get it all in.
“It was a great walk and we had a good turn-out, although numbers were slightly down on last year when we had 116 but I think that was down to the weather.
“Hopefully we can get more people involved next year again too.”
Most of the walkers were women who were invited to sport decorated bras and t-shirts in aid of Lewis Cancer Research although one brave man, Allan Don Mackenzie, did likewise wearing a specically crafted bra made of hollowed out melons.
