IT maybe one small splash in Niall Iain Macdonald’s bid to row the Atlantic, but it’s also one big tidal wave in the solo expedition plans as tomorrow (Friday, July 1) his boat enters the water for the first time.

Preparing to row from New York to Stornoway next summer, Gaelic presenter Niall Iain is inviting local businesses, companies and anyone who would like to find out more about the NY2SY to come along and see his trusty vessel slip into the sea at 7.30pm tomorrow evening at Cuddy Point.

“This isn’t an official launch, that will happen in due course, but it is a significant step!” he says. “I’ve have been working on the boat at the Transport Museum at Marybank over the last couple of weeks and am looking forward to a summer of rowing here, there and everywhere!”
