What is thought to be the first ever organised school reunion in North Uist is taking place in April with an event which aims to bring together former pupils who went to Paible School up until 1980.
With the dinner dance at the Carnish Hall, there will also be poignant reminders of those days of yore with of a photo exhibition in Paible School. The exhibition will be held on April 6, 7 and 8 from 10am to 4pm and entry will be £3, including a cuppa and shortbread.
The organisers are hoping to hear from anyone with relevant photos who would loan them to the exhibition. They ask that people send the photos, including their own contact details and descriptions of who are in the photos, to John MacDonald (Reunion), c/o Taigh Chearsabhagh, Lochmaddy, North Uist HS6 5AA before March 1.
The photos will be put on display over the three days both on display boards and also on CD.
The reunion night itself is on April 8. It begins at 7pm with a two-course sit-down buffet with wine followed by a dance at 10pm. Music will be by the one and only Calum Ian Band.
Only 150 tickets are available and they are priced at £30, to be paid when ordering. Cheques to be made payable to Joan Anderson (Reunion), contact details below.
A bus will run from Lochmaddy to Carnish if there is a demand. Guests should indicate if they would like to book a seat on the bus when ordering tickets.
Volunteers are still needed to help at the school with the photo exhibition and it is hoped they will offer to do a minimum of two-hour stints. Any partners free to help at the reunion by serving food or tidying up, selling raffle tickets or helping at the door are also asked to contact Seonag Anderson.
