THE ordination of Rev Stanley Bennie, of Stornoway, into the priesthood was held at St Columba’s Cathedral in Oban this week.

Rev Bennie is the second minister in Scotland to be ordained a priest of the Ordinariate of Our Lady Walsingham, which allows Anglicans to enter into full communion of the Catholic Church whilst retaining much of their heritage and traditions.

Also pictured above with Rev Bennie is Bishop Joseph Toal (second left) of Argyll and the Isles who performed the ordination and Rt. Rev Monsignor Keith Newton, Ordinary of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham.
