VISITORS to the Isles, as well as those returning home, will have a chance to brush up on their Gaelic again this year while en route.
The "Gàidhlig air a' Bhàta" (Gaelic on Board) project is back again after a successful outing last year. Gaelic information officers will be on board CalMac ferries to Stornoway, Tarbert and Lochmaddy, as well as the sailing to Barra via Coll and Tiree, providing passengers with a bit of knowledge about Gaelic language and culture.
The officers will also tell visitors a bit about things to do and places to see while in the Isles, as well as highlighting the state of Gaelic in the 21st century.
Passengers will be able to learn basic words and phrases, and find out where to go if they want to learn more; and the officer will be multi-tasking as entertainer, closing each session with a Gaelic song.
