THE Callanish Stones has been named as number four on a list of Britain's most unique places.
To celebrate the individuality and eccentricity of Great Britain, Best Western Hotels teamed up with travel expert Simon Calder and embarked on a summer-long search to discover the most unique places our country has to offer.

Headed up by Simon, t
he Best Western judging panel scoured the length and breadth of the nation to uncover the top ten must-visit locations and placed the Callanish Stones as number four on its list

Chosen for its 'jaw dropping natural beauty and unique magic', the Callanish Stones are truly special and by topping the list, Best Western hopes it will continue to fly the flag for the unsung destinations that this country has in bucketfuls.

Talking about the Callanish Stones' selection, Simon commented: "Forget Stonehenge; this magnificent prehistoric assemblage of 54 standing stones guarding a burial chamber, is much more atmospheric, not least thanks to its location on a far-flung fragment of the Western Isles. You can get up close and personal with millennia of history.

"Helping to track down the top ten unique places in Britain has been a joy. This is surely the time when we rediscover the hidden diamonds on our doorstep – and the Callanish Stones are definitely one of the most valuable gems."
