A 19-year-old man is recovering in Western Isles Hospital after his car overturned in Harris on Monday.
The man, from the Glasgow area, was overtaking another vehicle at the Ardhasaig quarry when his Ford Fiesta hit the verge and overturned, crashing into a bridge barrier.

The Fiesta then came to rest four metres below the bridge, in a river.

The accident occurred at around 4.30pm, and police, ambulance, and fire services attended.

The injured driver was taken to hospital for treatment to head wounds, and is still there (Wednesday), although his condition is not serious.

Police enquiries are ongoing.
