HIGHLANDS and Islands Airports' fire crews have agreed to suspend strike action on Friday to allow further talks with airport bosses on their payrise agreement.
The union Unite had proposed a strike on Friday following a dispute over the 2% pay increase, demanding instead an increase of 4.5%.
HIAL has confirmed that this action has now been suspended.
A strike held last Monday throughout HIAL airports saw nine airports closed to commercial flights, including those at Stornoway, Benbecula and Barra.
HIAL has no further comment to make at this time regarding what paydeal the company may offer.
