The MpH (Music Projects Hebrides) Jazz Project, which gives experienced and learner musicians practice and performance opportunities in the jazz and swing genres, has been given a 5-star rating by the Scottish Arts Council (SAC) - the highest possible.
Following a recent visit to watch the Junior and Senior Big Bands at rehearsal, the SAC assessor reported: "This is an excellent project that provides high quality tuition in a genre of music previously unavailable to this island community."

They added: "The sessions were inspiring and very well structured, with an obvious pathway for progression."

The MpH Jazz Project adopts the organisation's general policy of creating opportunities for musicians of all ages, playing at all levels of ability, and this inter-generational approach was praised.
