A MAJOR exhibition fronted by TV's Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud will showcase the software tools being developed on the Isle of Lewis to analyse the energy efficiency of proposed new buildings and certify their 'green' credentials.
The Greenspace team of researchers and engineers at Lews Castle College UHI will demonstrate their liveEnergy analysis tool, available through Google SketchUp, and liveEPC system which produces energy performance certificates.

ed visitors to the Grand Designs Live exhibition in London from 3 to 11 May will get the opportunity to learn more about the work of Greenspace who are turning their research into commercial products that will benefit built industry professionals such as architects and building engineers.
The software tools are now being trialled and are due to be accredited.
Research team leader Dr Neil Finlayson said: "People are becoming more conscious of the need to cut down on carbon emissions, and industry professionals are having to plan and design sustainable homes, workplaces and other buildings.
"Low carbon buildings are going to be a key instrument in combating climate change, and a small army of UK architects, surveyors and engineers with energy design and analysis skills is going to be required to meet the challenge," he added.
