WESTERN Isles MSP, Alasdair Allan, will speak today (Tuesday) in front of the Scottish Parliament petitions committee in favour of the Western Isles petition on Fuel prices.
The petition was initially backed by the Uist community, but soon caught the imagination of the public and has found wide support.

Mr. Allan commented: "This petition calls on the Scottish Parliament to make representations to Westminster over the spiralling cost of fuel in Scotland's islands and to look at providing solutions for the high cost of rural fuel prices.

"The impact of fuel prices are being felt, not just by motorists, but by fishermen, hauliers and local businesses in the Western Isles who are now paying virtually the highest fuel prices in the whole world.

"I am happy, therefore, to speak in front of the petitions committee to highlight this issue once more and ask that representations are made to the UK Government over fuel costs."
