Major drugs seizure in Stornoway

STORNOWAY Police have confirmed that they have seized what is believed to be a massive quantity of cannabis resin following the search of a premises in the town.
The seizure is believed to have a street value of £15,000.

A 49-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman are expected to appear in Stornoway Sheriff Court today (Wednesday) in connection with the seizure.

Meanwhile, police are appealing for witnesses following the serious assault of a 47 year-old man at Shell Street in Stornoway at 11.45pm on Monday evening.

The injured man sustained serious injuries and subsequently received treatment at Western Isles Hospital.

His condition has since been described as stable.

A 49 year-old man is currently in custody and was due to appear at Stornoway Sherriff Court today (Wednesday).
