Muirneag runs aground

THE Caledonian MacBrayne freight vessel 'MV Muirneag' ran aground briefly this morning (Friday).
Stornoway Coastguard were alerted by crew onboard the vessel at 8.10am, informing them that the 'Muirneag' had gone aground near Stornoway Harbour.

With a high tide expected at 11am, the crew of the vessel managed successfully to refloat her, and the Coastguard were informed at 8.45am that the 'Muirneag' was alongside at Stornoway Harbour.

No damage was inflicted to the vessel in the incident, and no-one was hurt.
