POST Office Ltd has confirmed that Stockinish Post Office will be replaced with a Hosted Outreach Service.
This means that the people of Stockinish will once again be able to access Post Office services.

Following the end of the formal period of public consultation, and having reviewed the feedback received, the Hosted Outreach Post Office service will be introduced at new premises at Bays Community Centre, Leaklee, Stockinish, Isle of Harris, a distance of 300 yards away from its former site.

The new service will commence on Wednesday, July 22 and will operate for a total of two hours per week, on a Wednesday, between 2 and 4pm. These operating hours are based on actual customer usage of the previous branch.

Alex MacLean, Field Change Advisor, Post Office Ltd, said: "I am pleased to announce that we are introducing this Hosted Outreach service to help safeguard Post Office services in Stockinish in the longer term.

"Post Office services are extremely important for the community, and we are confident that our customers will benefit, in the longer term, by this change. "
