FOLLOWING a frantic 48 hours trying to plan for the unpredictable Hebridean weather, Niall Iain Macdonald has been forced to postpone his solo row across the Minch.
With the Met office predicting Force 8 weather building up tonight and continuing tomorrow, the coastguard asked Niall Iain not to venture out into the seas, and he wisely decided to take their advice.

The obviously disappointed 34 year-old has said he'll be keeping an eye on the weather towards the end of the week and is hopeful that he can head off as soon as there's a break in the weather.

The radio presenter from Stornoway, hopes to raise money for two local charities – 'Royal National Lifeboat Institute' (RNLI) and 'Western Isles Association For Mental Health' (WIAMH).

As well as adding to the respective charity's funds, he also hopes that the project will raise people's awareness about Mental Health issues in general and perhaps encourage people to talk more openly about, what is actually, a very common illness.

All money raised through sponsorship will be split 50-50 between his chosen charities and donations can be made on his website at www.rowtheminch.com , where people can also track his progress during the challenge.
