The Stornoway Gazette has just received confirmation from the Coastguard that rowing Rapal presenter Niall Iain has reached Ullapool pier – a whole four hours ahead of schedule!
The Gaelic Radio presenter left Stornoway Harbour yesterday at 12.10 pm and rowed throughout the night to reach the Ullapool pier in a 43 mile challenge to raise awareness and funds for local charities RNLI and Catch 23.

The 34 year-old exceeded his own expectations despite facing a head on wind and receeding tide on the last leg of his journey.
For a more in depth interview on his trip – see next week's Gazette.
