Raising funds for the RNLI will be the main focus of this year’s Amhuinnsuidhe Castle Charity Day.
The event will be held on Saturday 22nd Spetember, on the castle green, and will begin at 1pm. Funds will be credited to the Leverburgh Lifeboat Station.
Weather and call-out permitting, it is hoped to have the Leverburgh Lifeboat, RNLB The Royal Thames alongside the castle sea-wall and also the Coastguard Helicopter.
Teas, coffees and home-baking will be served. There will be an array of stalls including local crafts, home-baking, tombola, children’s games and a bouncy castle.
There will be a raffle and and an auction on the day. Raffle tickets are on sale in local shops now and prizes are as follows: 1st - 1 Night Stay at Amhuinnsuidhe Castle for two people during short-break week, 2nd – Luxury Drinks Hamper, 3rd – Luxury Food Hamper. Among the items available in the auction will be a week’s accommodation in a New Jersey appartment (sleeps 4) overlooking the Hudson river, a two night winter break at Blue Reef Cottages,Scarista, a print of Leverburgh Lighthouse by Alasdair Wiseman, and a Royal Doulton figurine.
On display throughout the day will be a selection of fine products from the Amhuinnsuidhe Castle Estate including Hampers, Smoked Salmon, 2013 calendars and the estate’s own malt whisky.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to take a tour of the castle; places are limited (20 spaces) and must be booked in advance. Bookings can be made by calling 01859 560 200.
As parking will be very limited at the Castle, buses will depart from Tarbert tourist Information Car Park at 12.30 pm, and will return after the event. The cost for a return journey is £2 per adult, and £1 per child. Places are on a first come, first served basis. Admission to the charity day is priced at £2 for adults, and £1 for children.
