The Outer Hebrides LEADER funded ‘Nature Tourism’ Project, which is managed locally by the Outer Hebrides Tourism Industry Association, has won the Tourism category at the 2013 Nordic-Baltic LEADER Co-operation Awards.
The awards aim to recognise the innovative work of the co-operation projects which are currently taking place.
The LEADER Innse Gall Chairperson, Councillor Alasdair MacLeod, commented: “Winning this prestigious award is a fantastic endorsement of the positive and innovative work of the Nature Tourism project.
“As well as supporting and funding numerous high profile projects in the Hebrides, LEADER has an international dimension and involvement in the Nature Tourism project will be of benefit in future in a variety of ways.
“It is good to see that this international co-operation has been recognized and, hopefully, similar projects will be developed when the new LEADER 2014-2020 programme starts next year.”
Anne Ryan, Outer Hebrides Tourism Industry Association Tourism Development Officer, added: “We are delighted that our hard work on behalf of the Tourism Industry in the Outer Hebrides has been recognised with this award.”
