A GROUP of licenced radio amateurs are to broadcast from the Barra RNLI Lifeboat station next week in an attempt to raise funds for the lifesaving charity as part of the RNLI ‘SOS Day’ – the RNLI’s biggest annual fundraising event on Friday, January 27.

It is hoped that the profile of the RNLI will be raised world wide and the profile of amateur radio will be raised locally through the week-long broadcast, while also giving ex-pats the opportunity to make contact with Barra in either English or Gaelic.
