Blooming success for charity

Each year Carloway residents Stuart and Rowena Oakley open their garden at ‘Leathad Ard’ – Gaelic for ‘Steep Hill’ – as part of Scotland’s Garden Scheme to raise funds for both the scheme’s selected charities and the Red Cross.

The garden is now officially closed for the season and this year has raised £1,355.12. Of this, 40 per cent will be passed on to their chosen charity, the Red Cross, while the remainder is used to support the ‘Scotland’s Gardens’charities.
