Blythswood Care is appealing to receive cash donations to provide relief to survivors of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
As part of the international Global Hand community, Blythswood is channelling aid through its partners in Hong Kong.
A relief shipment planned to leave Hong Kong this week will consist mainly of two types of disaster relief kits: kitchen kits and hygiene kits.
The first will include a plastic basin, a cooking pot, kitchen utensils, plastic mugs and plates and metal cutlery, mosquito coils and candles, intended for six people.
The second will include toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, facecloths, towels, razors, sanitary napkins and washing detergent, again intended for up to six people.
Each kit has been priced at £33 (400 Hong Kong dollars) including an allowance for delivery and distribution.
Blythswood’s head of projects Finlay Mackenzie said: “Some of our supporters have been asking us what we are doing to help. As part of the Global Hand community we are able to send relief to trustworthy distributors in the Philippines.
“Don’t worry if you cannot afford £33 – every smaller gift will add up and make a difference at the end of the day.”
You can make a credit card donation to Blythswood’s Typhoon Appeal by calling 0845 456 9460, or online at www.Blythswood.org/donate, or from your mobile by texting BCTA13 and then £10 (or whatever amount you choose) to number 70070.
