Body pulled from Stornoway Harbour

A body was recovered by the RNLI Lifeboat from Stornoway harbour in the early hours of this morning (Friday).

Coastguard and Ambulance personnel responded to a report of a person having fallen into the inner harbour at Stornoway at around 3am. With the assistance of the RNLI lifeboat a 38 year old male was recovered from the water and taken to the Western Isles Hospital, where sadly life was pronounced extinct.

The man has yet to be identified until next of kin are notified.

Enquiries into the incident are continuing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal at Stornoway.
