The brand new £42million Stornoway-Ullapool ferry broke down in Ullapool this afternoon (Thursday).

The ferry, which has only been in service for three weeks, is experiencing a technical fault and MV Isle of Lewis is now en route to Ullapool to provide relief for this evening’s service to Stornoway. She is expected to arrive at 9:20pm.

All crossings on the route are cancelled tomorrow (Friday) due to an adverse weather forecast as are services on the Uig-Lochmaddy-Tarbert route.
