NESS

Latha Na Ceisd - On the Friday of the Ness communion last week the scripture texts given for the men to speak on were as follows:

In the Free Presbyterian Church the text given by John Alex Murray Elder, Cross Skigersta, was from Psalm 73 verses 25 and 26.

In the Free Church continuing Jackie Smith Elder, Barvas, gave the text from Psalm 116 verses 7 and 8.

In Cross Free Church Iain Macritchie Deacon, Skigersta, gave his text from the song of Solomon, chapter 2 verse 4.

Two new Members were added to the Professing Church in Ness at this time. One in Cross Free Church and the other in the Church of Scotland.

Sympathy - We send sincere condolences to the extended family of the late Johanna Nicolson, of ‘Whispering Winds’, Leurbost, who recently passed away. Johanna was married to the late John Nicolson (Ex Lemreway).

Sympathy - The community was again saddened to hear of the passing of the Late Dolina Macdonald (banntrach Eachinn Seoras).

Dolina passed away following a period of ill health. A number of years ago she moved from the family home in Marvig to Kirk Care in Stornoway and latterly to Blair Bhuidhe Nursing Home.

Pre funeral services to place in the Seminary, Stornoway with interment taking place in the Gravir Cemetery.

To her daughters, Peggy, Donna and Morag and their respective families and the extended family we send our sincere sympathy in their sad loss at this time.

Get Well - We send get well wishes to George Begg who is currently a patient in the Western Isle Hospital, we wish you a speedy recovery.

Welcome - We send welcome wishes to Nan and Tommy Macleod who have recently come back to live in the district of Pairc. Nan (originally from Cromore) and Tommy have come to live in Glen Gravir.

Communions - As previously mentioned the half yearly communions will take place in the Park congregation this weekend.

The assisting ministers will be Rev C Macdonald (Callanish) and Rev G Matheson (Skye). Pray that the weekend will be richly blessed.

STORNOWAY

Caladh Inn - The Caladh Inn will host a Men’s Yoga and Gentle Flow session for those who would love to try yoga.

The session will be held on Wednesday October 23rd with Gentle Flow from 11am to 12 noon and Mens Yoga from 6 to 7pm. This is a Free taster with Carlyoga.

Nearly new sale - The Rotary Club of Stornoway and Interact present the ‘Baby and Preschool Nearly New Sale’ with toys, clothes, equipment and more!

The sale will be held on Saturday October 26th in Martins Memorial Hall from 12 noon to 1pm. Early bird entry £5 but General Entry is free.

GLASGOW LEWIS AND HARRIS ASSOCIATION.

The Glasgow Lewis and Harris Annual Gathering - This event is scheduled for the usual first Friday in November and the Annual Dinner is held on the previous evening.

This long established pattern, of many years standing, is always recognised as a leading event in the schedule of all with Lewis and Harris connections and many others and is one of the highlights on the social calendar of all Gaels in Glasgow.

A change of venue from the Woodside Halls takes the Annual Gathering on Friday 1st November to the Glasgow University Student’s Union based at 32 University Avenue Glasgow.
