Angus Morrison, the 54 year old Independent candidate, has won a seat on the Comhairle representing the Sgir’ Uige agus Ceann a Tuath nan Loch ward with 72% of the vote.

The by-election, which was held to secure a third councillor for the ward following the death of SNP Cllr Bill Houston, will see Mr Morrison join the Comhairle along side Norman MacDonald and Cudig Macleod who also represent the area.

The turn out was 40.88%. Mr Morrison got 745 votes. Also standing was SNP Candidate John Norman Macdonald who received 195 votes and Les Mac an Ultaigh who was standing as an independent and got 73 votes.
