Celtic Canine Capers was par for the course at The Hut in Back last Saturday, September 27th.
The day was a win-win for two animal charities ‘Wet Nose Day Animal Aid’ and ‘Nowzad Dogs’ each receiving around £200 for their causes following a fun activity afternoon for dogs and their people.
It was the first of what will hopefully become a yearly event, which is already in the planning stages for next July with many more attractions added.
In the Hut refreshments were being served along with wonderful home baking, a number of stalls were available to purchase from or to simply browse, while outside there was Brodie & Breagha, Meg, Millie & Emmi, Pippa & Poppy, Cadbury & Clyde to name just a few of the lovely pets taking part, they brought their generous and well behaved owners along to share the excitement of the agility games.
The ‘waggiest tail’ event was enjoyed by all those dogs with enough wag left after the agility to wag their way to a prize.
For those dogs really into fine dining, there was also the ‘Fastest Sausage Eater’ competition, with the fastest dog finishing his plate of sausage in just a few seconds - now there’s a challenge set for the next event!
Very many thanks to all those of you who made it happen, those who donated the lovely baking, all the helpers on the day.
Judging the classes was Mrs Catherine Low of The Old Mill Veterinary Practice, and Mr Calum Watt of the SSPCA was the MC for the event, and most of all the competitors, without whom there wouldn’t be an event to enjoy.
