A FUN night for all the family and the perfect way to ring in 2011 – the Mod nan Eilean Siar 2010 New Year Ceilidh!
Organised by the local Mod 2011 committee, the Hogmanay dance will be suitable for all ages, and takes place in An Caladh Inn, Stornoway, on Friday, December 31, from 9pm until 2am.
Entertainment seeing ceilidh-dancers into the new year will be providedy Keith Morrison of Face the West, the Battlefield Band’s Alasdair White, as well as James MacKenzie and Oidhche Chiadain.
Tickets are available from An Comunn Gaidhealach and Events at a cost of £10/£7 – or for the family rate of £25.
Warming up for the big event as one year moves into another, a Village Hall Dance will be held at the Leverburgh Village Hall on Thursday, December 30. Superb entertainment will be provided by the Iain Angus Band and doors open at 9.30pm, entry price £5.
Also in Harris, the Harris Mutual Improvement Association are inviting all to come and see in 2011 with a New Year Community Dance at the Tarbert Community Centre. Starting at Midnight and running till 3am, entertainment for the night comes from the Anna Fraser Band. Tickets are priced £8 for adults and £3 for children and the licensed bar will offer free soft drinks for under 18s.
For those not ready to stop celebrating on January 1, the party will continue with a New Years Session held in the Barvas and Brue Community Centre at 7pm – all are welcome.
