Following the success of several concerts in which participants from Fèisean all over Scotland showcased their talent, Fèisean nan Gàidheal would like to work in conjunction with the committees of the Western Isles Fèisean to re-establish a cèilidh trail in the Western Isles for youngsters aged between 16 and 22, where they will tour the isles and perform at cèilidhs and concerts over the course of three weeks in the summer.
This is a fantastic opportunity where the participants can develop their musical skills under the direction of a specially appointed coordinator, and they will gain experience in performing in front of crowds in several different situations, whilst earning money.
Once the group has been chosen, a training weekend will be organised where they will get to know each other and start to construct a set which will incorporate each individual’s talents accordingly. They will attend Fèis Alba in Plockton from the 6th – 10th of July where they will practice and fine-tune the set they will be playing over the course of the summer. The tour will begin at the Hebridean Celtic Festival in Stornoway the following week and will continue down the Western Isles, including a visit to Ullapool to play a joint gig with the Fèis Rois Cèilidh Trail, and the co-ordinator will accompany the participants over the course of the three weeks.
