An Talla Solais in Ullapool marks its 10th Birthday with a bonanza of a members’ show!
This daring exhibition includes an open submissions exhibition in the gallery space on Market Street plus a series of mini exhibitions in other venues around the village of Ullapool.
This annual exhibition attracts around forty different artists each year; and this year a further ten artists have been selected to display their work in local cafés, shop fronts, the Macphail Community Centre and the local allotment.
Highlights of the show include a series of textile hangings by Jan Kilpatrick of Wild Tiles. These beautifully crafted pieces which are inspired by the local landscape are in the Ceilidh Place and a shop front nearby.
Other interesting features include a display of artists’ books in the Library and a riot of colourful selfie portraits by Ullapool High School pupils in the windows of the empty shop on the corner of Argyle Street.
An Talla Solais’s members’ show continues to attract a wide range of interesting artists locally and from further afield – the 10th show is a perfect example of the creative blood that this part of the country attracts.
Look out for the Ullapool Art Map which will help you find your way around the variety of artworks on show, expect to see paintings, sculpture, printmaking and much more!
