The Co-operative Food store on MacAulay Road in Stornoway has teamed up with Action for Children to collect gifts for local children in need of support this Christmas.
The store is inviting customers and staff to donate new toys to the charity, which will be given to vulnerable children in the area to help them have a happy Christmas.
The gifts can be dropped off under the Action for Children Christmas tree in store, with donations being taken for the next couple of weeks. The store will also be donating 90 selection boxes, to each child, being supported by Action for Children in Stornoway.
Action for Children is based on Bayhead Street and Hillcrest Residential Unit, Stornoway, with work spanning across the whole of the Western Isles.
The service works with children, young people and their families who have been identified as requiring help by either the Social Work Department, Education Department, Health, The Children’s Hearing system or by families making self referrals.
The toys will be handed over to the charity by staff from The Co-operative’s Stornoway team, on 20th December at 11:00am in store.
Ian McLeod, Deputy Manager at the MacAulay Road store said: “Helping local groups where we can is important to us.
“The toys will ensure that children who may usually miss out at Christmas time will enjoy a festive treat this year. Our store team will each be donating gifts and we hope that our customers will give generously also for this good cause.”
